To apply for rental space in the SMDC Small Business Incubator, first complete the attached pre-application. Detach and return as directed.
The completed pre-application will be forwarded to the SMDC Incubator Committee. The committee will review your materials and respond with one of three responses:
Request for additional information or materials,
Request for a completed full application, which will include a business plan (or similar) with financial projections and references,
An explanation of why the committee does not believe your business is a good fit for the incubator, and possible referrals to other service providers.
Upon receipt of the completed full application, the SMDC Incubator Committee will review your materials and contact you to schedule an interview.
After the interview, the SMDC Incubator Committee will check references and make a determination of whether you are a good fit for the incubator.
Upon acceptance, you will be sent a lease and performance contract to sign. The performance contract will include expectations to be met for your development and continued growth, as well as graduation strategies for your eventual relocation into the community. The contract may include any or all of the following: periodic meetings with staff, open book accounting, attending appropriate workshop or seminars, timely payment of rent and utilities, and attendance at tenant meetings.
Your application and performance contract will be presented to the Executive Board of Smoky Mountain Development Corporation for final approval. If approved, arrangements will be made to begin your tenancy.
